An example of what we at LTCR do: a concerned acquaintance discovered a feral cat had given birth to 5 kittens in her backyard. She reached out for help, and we came over and trapped the kittens and mama with TNR traps. Mama had taken great care of her babies, as they were very chubby!
Mama was spayed and given her shots and dewormers, and released back to the acquaintance who wanted to care for her, which worked for us because mama liked her and was too feral to be put up for adoption. We kept the kittens and brought them into foster careāand just in time, too, as they had some gastrointestinal malaise brewing that would have been dangerous if left untreated.
We named them Cashew, Macadamia, Hazelnut, Chestnut, and Almond.
The kittens grew up healthy and happy and were quickly adopted to loving forever homes.
